Tip #211: The initial capital letter of a quotation is retained  following a colon if the quoted material originally began with a capital letter.

For example:

The president of the company issued the following statement: "We are not concerned about the present. We are worried about the future."

Weekly Exercise:

We receive over 200 emails per day.  We encourage you to answer our weekly tips, but please, if you are answering this weekly tip exercise,  identify the tip number in the subject line of your email.

Find the misspelled words in the following sentences:

  1. The company was a wholey owned subsidary of the conglomerate.
  2. John decided to withold the facts from his rivals.
  3. Juanita finds it exilaralting to win her arguments.
  4. My grammer book linadvertently mispelled "vilefy."
