Tip #476: The word "committee" is a collective noun that takes a singular verb. For example: The committee is to meet at 4:30 p.m. If you wish to emphasize the individuals on the committee, use "the members of the committee" with the plural verb form. For example: The members of the committee were all in agreement. |
