Tip # 88:  A good report summary should provide the following information:
 
  1. The first one or two sentences should give the background of the report and answer who, when, and why in the first one or two sentences. 

  2. For example: 
    Basic Learning Systems launched a campaign in August 1999 to increase annual sales by 15 percent.
     
  3. The next few sentences should answer the how and what. 

  4. For example: 
    The new field representatives met with their clients and competed their goals (1) get feedback from clients, (2) answer any questions immediately, (3) fulfil customer needs
     
  5. The next sentences should focus on outcome. 

  6. For example: 
    At the end of five weeks, sales were up by 17 percent and unanswered questions were down by 90 percent.
     
  7. The last sentence should give the writer's conclusions. 

  8. For example: 
    The sales campaign was a success, but fine-tuning it may produce more sales.


Please correct the following sentences:
  1. Effective writing requires many skills.  For example, a command of conventional grammar and the application of correct mechanics.

  2.  
  3. He must learn the language and to be knowledgeable about his computer.
